Complaints Procedure

It is hoped that your child’s time at Ethelred will be happy. However, from time-to-time problems may arise. If you do wish to make a complaint about anything that happens at school, there is a procedure for you to use.

The first step is for you to raise the problem with the Headteacher. We hope that nearly all matters can be sorted out in a friendly discussion.

If you are not satisfied with the response you receive from the Headteacher, you may, if you wish, ask for your complaint to be forwarded to the Governors. If you want this to happen, you will be asked to write out your complaint, explaining what the problem is and how you would like it to be resolved. Two Governors (neither will be an employee of Ethelred) will meet to discuss your complaint. If you wish you may attend this meeting (along with a friend if you like).

Following this meeting the Governors will write to you explaining their decision, giving the reasons for it and details of any action taken or recommendations made by the Governors.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the Governors’ meeting, you may, if you wish, put your complaint before a panel drawn from Lambeth Council’s Education Committee. If you decide to do this you will be fully advised about how to proceed.
